Ethiopia's Regions - Sidamo

Sidamo, the largest and most sprawling of coffee growing areas in Ethiopia lies spread across three political regions in the South of the country. Encompassing the famous woredas of Nensebo, Dale and Bensa to name but a few, the ECX allots the name Sidamo A to E depending on where exactly the coffee comes from in the vast area.

Possessing a vast array of distinct varietals throughout the region, a huge diversity of flavours and characteristics are present in the cup. Citrus, floral and chocolate notes are usually in abundance but be prepared to find tea-like properties, ripe stone-fruits and herbal qualities too.

Working with the regions best washing stations and farmers, you can be confident that whichever Sidamo coffees you choose from Seife’s, all will possess the quality and complexity desired from this beautiful region.

Washed Sidamo coffees are amongstEthiopia’s most delicious. Expect to find bright citric coffees underpinned by sweet fruits such as apricots and peaches. Medium-bodied, often with intense florals, these coffees arrive clean and linger pleasingly on the palate.

With huge depth and complexity, naturally processed Sidamo coffees burst with citrus, stone-fruits and aromatic florals. With wine-like characteristics, natural Sidamos present ripe, rather than over-fermented, fruits in an elegant, textured manner reminiscent of the best pinot noirs.
