Ethiopia's Regions - Yirgacheffe

One of Ethiopia’s smallest, but also most compelling regions, Yirgacheffe is globally renowned for its delicious coffees and one of the most exciting places we work. With a profile dominated by florals and fruits, the coffees we source from Yirgacheffe are incredibly sweet and bursting with bright, balanced acidity, making them some of Ethiopia’s most delicious and desirable.

Located mainly in Gedeo, SERP, with the Gelana and Abaya woredas situated in Borena, Oromia, Yirgacheffe may be small, but with many years experience producing exceptional coffees, the washing stations we work with wow us each harvest with their complex coffees.

A bright, clean cup full of florals and citrus notes, our washed Yirgacheffes show remarkable complexity coupled with sweet stone fruits. Expect to fall in love with coffee again when fresh crop washed Yirgacheffe coffees arrive to your door.

Packed full of chocolate, berries and citrus, natural process Yirgacheffes retain much of the acidity found in their washed brethren. Ripe fruits produce an elegant yet juicy mouth-feel that lingers a long time and will please your customers no end.

Amongst the most exciting of recent developments has been the experimentation and adoption of special preparations in Yirgacheffe by some of the washing stations we work with. Carbonic maceration and anaerobic processed Yirgacheffes have incredibly complex wine-like profiles, full of ripe tropical fruits and dark chocolate.
